Richard A. Berger, M.D.
Joint Reconstruction

Assistant Professor, Rush University Medical Center
Dr. Richard Berger has revolutionized hip and knee replacement surgery by developing a minimally invasive method of replacing these invaluable joints As a result of Dr. Berger’s surgical method his patients experience greatly reduced pain and dramatically reduced recovery time compared with patients undergoing traditional hip replacement surgery. In fact most of Dr. Berger’s patients are able to leave the hospital the same day of their joint replacement surgery.

Dr. Berger’s degree in mechanical engineering from MIT has helped him design specialized instruments, which allow him to perform surgery without cutting any muscle, tendon or ligament. His mechanical engineering background has also helped him to design gender-specific implants that fit and perform better for active patients.

Dr. Berger participated in a post doctoral fellowship in adult reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Berger also conducts research on hip and knee replacements.

Dr. Berger, as part of his pioneering role in minimally invasive surgery, has developed specialized instruments, techniques for surgery, as well as knee and hip implants. As the developer, Dr Berger receives royalties and payments from the manufacturers of these devices. Additional information regarding these manufacturers, devices and instruments will be provided to you upon request.
